Bell’s Puppies are Finally Here!

Status

Bell gave birth yesterday to a litter of eight, 5 boys and 3 girls.  That makes this year a record for having boy heavy litters for us. We have 4 male reservations available at this point, and that will wrap up 2024! These pups will go home on December 7th!

Maple’s Birth!

Status

Maple had an incredibly smooth birth yesterday, and she has proven to be a fantastic mother right away! She had 7 boys and 3 girls. We will be reaching out to families on our reservation lists who will be placed with one of these babies after the pups have stabilized, which will be 1-2 weeks. We are so thankful for such a beautiful delivery!

Maple’s X-Ray

Status

Maple had her puppy count x-ray today, and they counted 10! The ultrasound estimate number was a little high. 10 is a great number for a natural delivery, and we are so excited! I just got home from the hospital from an emergency C-section that took place last Sunday. I have severe preeclampsia that is not subsiding, and it is being managed with a few different medications. There is a small chance that I will need to return to the hospital should the medications not be successful, and I may not be answering texts immediately if that happens or just in general because I’m taking care of a premature baby after a surgery. I will get back to everyone eventually, or Zach or Renee will. Let’s hope for a smooth birth for Maple this weekend!

Bell is Pregnant!

Status

Bell had her ultrasound today, and they counted at least 7 puppies. Last time, they counted 6, and she had 10, so we’re estimating around 10-11 this time. The puppy pickup date will be either November 30th or December 7th depending on when the pups are born. She made us wait, but we are so excited! The due date is approximately October 9th, and the puppy count x-ray is currently scheduled for October 2nd!

Maple is VERY Pregnant!

Status

Maple had her pregnancy confirmation ultrasound, and the vet estimated approximately 12 pups. Ultrasounds are not reliable for a puppy count, but sometimes an estimate can be given if enough pups can be seen clearly enough. We’re so excited for this litter! There are 7 reservations in for Maple’s litter, so we expect to have room for more reservations. Bell’s pregnancy check will take place in a couple more weeks.

Jasper and Bell!

Status

Bell finally went into heat! Jasper successfully bred with her this week, and we will get an ultrasound in about a month to see if it took. If the breeding was successful, Bell’s due date would be approximately October 9th, and puppy pickup day would be either November 30th or December 7th depending on when the birth takes place. On another note, Maple’s ultrasound will be scheduled very soon, and it should take place sometime in the next week or two! We’ll send out the results from that as soon as we have them!

Passed Health Tests!

Status

We would like to introduce a girl from our guardianship program that has passed all of her health tests, gotten her CHIC number, went into heat and was bred last week! She was bred with Jasper, and we think they will make some gorgeous pups. Her name is  Carmel Bliss’s Maple Donut! Her litter is up on our page, and her profile is updated in the “Our Girls” section of our website with pictures and her health information.

Male Available

Status

The girl with the short tail now has a home and a backup list started for her! We also have a male reservation still available. This guy did great at the vet, has done fantastically with the area training, and is as sweet as they come.  We’ll consider adding this guy to our breeding program if the timing continues to not workout for other people.

Short Tailed Girl

Status

Pictures can be seen if you click to visit the actual blog! We had the pups seen by our vet a couple days ago, and the short tailed girl has a partially inverted vulva. It’s not affecting her presently, and it could correct itself with growth and/or after her first heat cycle. If it causes any issues, she would have corrective surgery most likely during her spay (preferably after she has a chance to have a heat cycle if possible). Since she will need monitoring and will need to be rinsed every once in a while and kept clean down there, we have decided to give her away to the right home. She may continue to be completely normal, or she may grow in a way that makes assisted cleanliness more important. She is practically perfectly trained to go over the potty grate, so she is doing wonderfully with no accidents. Even in the worst case scenario of needing a corrective surgery, she would be a great deal for the right home. Please reach out if you’re interested! carmelblisspuppies@gmail.com
